Ready for the "Anonymous attack" – how do you defend properly?

Dave Abargel,

Our dealings with the much-discussed attack by the "Anonymous" group tomorrow,
and the preventive measures that many have already implemented show that the threat alone is enough to already cause us damage. How do you defend yourself properly?

#OpIsrael is a name for several combined cyberattacks carried out by Arab and Muslim activists who identified with the Anonymous organization, together with pro-Palestinian hacker groups, against Israeli websites.
The actions included, among others: denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, breaking into databases and leaking details from databases, taking over the admin interfaces of websites and defacing web pages (mainly by replacing their home page).

Tomorrow the Anonymous organization will begin the operation ‪#‎OpIsrael‬ as in each of the last 3 years, and will carry out cyber attacks on Israeli websites and government information systems.

We have gathered several tips for you that will help you protect your site:

  • Keep your WordPress version and plugins up to date.
  • Limit the number of failed attempts to log in to your Admin area.
  • Do not use the username "Admin".
  • Use strong passwords containing letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Use tools to detect security vulnerabilities.
  • Adding two-factor authentication (for advanced users)
  • Make sure your site is hosted on a secure WordPress server
  • Make sure your computer is free of viruses and malware
