After installing the ezCache plugin – what are the next steps?
The first thing you should know after activating the plugin is so that the improvement in loading time can be seen that ezCache achieved only by enabling it in the default configuration of the plugin.
If you have advanced knowledge of how a website works in the browser, you can start further optimizing the plugin settings based on recommendations from performance testing tools such as Speedom, GTmetrix, Pingdom, or Google Developers PageSpeed Insights – although we usually recommend giving such tools low priority.
We recommend that you focus on site speed, and not waste time achieving a virtual result from an automated tool. Try to check page load time in practice using dedicated tools (such as Speedom for example).
What are the recommended settings for configuring ezCache?
In fact, There is no single recommended configuration of ezCache that can be used on every site.
Themes, plugins and hosting environments can vary greatly, so certain settings will work \ not work on different sites.
There is even an option such as file optimization – that will work perfectly on one site but will not work at all on another. So sometimes leaving a setting completely disabled can be the best thing!
On the other hand, there are several key options – such as page caching, browser caching of static files and GZIP compression – they are completely automatic, they do not even appear in your settings page, but they work quietly and perform their magic behind the scenes, making your site faster without you having to lift a finger.
Automatic options
The following options work automatically behind the scenes and do not appear on ezCache's settings page:
- Page cache – (static HTML file cache)
- Browser cache for file validation
- GZIP compression
- SSL cache
